ashley & elvis
I met these two amazing humans for the first time at their engagement session in south Florida a year ago. I instantly loved them. You could feel their overwhelming love for each other as they danced along the shoreline. It came as no surprise that their entire wedding day was nothing short of magical.
“We were in high school when we met; I was a senior and she was junior. We had the same mutual friends and we all had the same lunch hour together. I remember Ashley bringing everyone a goodie bag of peanut butter cookies and I made a comment about her not bringing me one. She laughed and said that she would make me my own batch. I hated peanut butter cookies, but that was my way in. I ate the cookies. We hung out almost everyday after that and we became good friends at the beginning of 2003. We started dating shortly after. We used to go to Walmart late at night and just ride around on the bicycles or jump on bouncy balls. We had tons of fun together just doing nothing. I knew I would marry her one day.” – elvis
Ashley & Elvis’ wedding took place on a cool September day in Wallkill, New York. Just two hours outside the bustling city, this cute little area of mountain towns exists. Apple orchards, wineries, distilleries, lush green forrest, and great rock climbing fill the area. The venue was an award-winning pet-friendly historic farmhouse built in the 1740’s. Audrey’s is set on 5 beautiful acres at the base of the Shawangunk Mountain Ridge in the Hudson Valley. Ashley and Elvis were each getting ready in different rooms on the unique bed & breakfast’s property. In the farmhouse, the girls bustled around getting ready for the day. The kitchen was stocked with fresh local apple cider donuts. Vases filled with colorful flowers, and stacks of linen covered books were on every surface. Next door, the guys were drinking homemade moonshine out of small jam jars and helping one another tie their ties. Elvis was filled with nervous excitement. Ashley was absolutely radiant in the window light as she got ready with the help of her mom and sisters.
The look on Elvis’ face when he saw his bride for the first time walking down the aisle is easily my favorite reaction from a groom to-date. The love felt in that courtyard…I couldn’t hold back my own tears. Their son Hendrix (aka cutest kid ever) brought them their rings. He exclaimed “wowwww” in the sweetest little voice filled with pure amazement when he opened the ring box to hand his parent’s their bands and everyone’s heart melted.
The reception space was pure magic. Nectar de Fete truly out did themselves with the planning, styling, and florals. They brought Ashley & Elvis’ vision for their wedding day to life; from the family table lined with flowers and candles in the greenhouse, to the cigar bar and “balloon flowers” in the cocktail/dancing space. The Greenhouses Kitchen served a delicious family style meal and afterwards Much Music DJ got the party started. I am pretty positive Hendrix had a piece of cake or a cupcake in hand the entire evening.
The day was filled with love and so so much laughter.
I am incredibly lucky to have met such a wonderful couple.
